An Easter Feast to Remember

Prep Boarding

Spring term 2021 has been full of trials and tribulations but yet again the Hazlegrove boarding community served as a reminder of both how resilient our children are and what brilliant fun it is to be a part of boarding life.

Bonnets were the order of the day for our Easter feast with some truly spectacular entries. Flowerpots, towers and even a ‘hands, space and face’ themed bonnet were on display. We even had winning entries from as far a field as Bosnia! We were treated to another egg-stravaganza from the kitchen and the usual Easter feast dessert did not disappoint with home made doughnuts and chocolate ice cream!

Our usual after dinner talk was taken by the spectacular Mr Edwards. If you have ever heard Mr Edwards speak you will know what a good orator he is. He wove a brilliant argument for why now is the best time to be alive! This thankfully was immediately shown to be true in the inaugural ‘Boogie on the Bastion’. In what was one of the highlights of the weekend we turned the bastion into our own music festival. It was truly wonderful to see all of the children let their hair down and dance the night away!

In-weekends are special and this was no exception; we are extraordinarily blessed to have so many staff who give up their weekends to make boarding so fun and the breadth of activities on show this weekend was the perfect show case of just how lucky the boarding community is. It was a pleasure to see the children take advantage of Easter card making, the Blackford spa, pond dipping for newts, making Easter s’mores on the campfire, an Easter egg race, go-kart time trial, bike scavenger hunt, marble run and chocolate nest making to name just a few.

We topped off the weekend with a well earned rest and some down time in the common rooms enjoying a film and popcorn. A busy weekend filled with laughter, joy, chocolate and dancing. What could be better!
