An American Themed Weekend for Our Boarders
The weekend was off to a fantastic start on Saturday evening, with an American themed meal.
Everyone loved the juicy burgers, tasty buffalo wings and the delicious Mississippi mud pie in the dinning room which had a new American feel. Sunday started in usual fashion with a fabulous full English breakfast which really set the tone for what was to be a lovely day. The weather, having been stormy all-day Saturday, came out with blue skies ready for some outdoor American themed activities.
Throughout the morning Mr Atkinson introduced many to a game of Lacrosse where those involved developed their passing and shooting skills. Many wanted to express their creative talents in the Art room by making Native American dream catchers and Totem poles with Miss Arnold and Miss Townson. After morning break when the weather became a little cooler, Mr Schreiber was kind enough to allow all to enjoy the warmth of the swimming pool where lots of different underwater games were played. Others joined Hazlegrove's very own scientist (Mr Head) in the science labs for some fun and investigation.
After a wonderful roast pork for lunch the afternoon was spent watching Wallace and Gromit on the big screen in the sports hall while enjoying the freshly made candy floss and popcorn. While others watched a short movie, the rest had a period of rest and reflection writing to our loved ones telling them about our activity packed week. Once our letters were written there was some time to ride bikes, roller skate and enjoy the adventure playground before an afternoon snack and hot chocolate to warm us all up.
The day was finished with movies in the boarding houses and some were even lucky enough to use the big screen to watch their film. Another fun filled weekend at Hazlegrove.
