An uplifting Science trip for Year 6
Last week Year 6 visited Sherborne Girls School to see Tim Harrison from the University of Bristol give a fascinating lecture on ‘Gases in the Air’.
The children were on the edge of their seats as balloons full of different gases were set on fire. They witnessed ‘the coldest shower on Earth’ with the use of liquid nitrogen and were wowed by many different chemical reactions and explosions.
Pupils enjoyed a wonderful lunch afterwards, which allowed the opportunity to discuss the best bits of the day. I am sure they will be checking first, which gas their next balloon is filled with!
