A week of challenge and teambuilding for Year 7 at the River Dart
With the aim of starting the year focussing on leadership and teambuilding, we took our Year 7s off to the River Dart Adventure Centre last week...
Whether the children were crawling through micro-gaps in the limestone caves, digging deep for reserves of stamina out on the moor, or confronting their fears on the precarious high-ropes course, every child faced a new and very real challenge every day. It was fascinating and rewarding to see children grow during the week, learning new skills and how to deal with the strengths and weaknesses in themselves and in their peers.
Most rewarding for the staff was hearing time and time again from the Centre’s instructors just what an exceptional group the children were: polite, game for a challenge, humble in victory and generous in defeat. Hazlegrove certainly seems to be getting it right in bringing out the best in its children!
