8S post scholarship trip to London
We had a brilliant day in London! We left school at 8.30am and arrived at 11.30am where we met Jamie Ede who showed us his collection. He showed us his various antiques and told us about how he searches the world for these lost treasures. His collection had statues, bowls and jewellery. He told us the history of the statues and how the bowls were given their distinctive red and black colour.
We then left to have lunch. After that we visited the British Museum. The building itself was spectacular, never mind the vast array of weapons, ornaments , statues and other exhibits ranging from 3500BC to the 19th Century. Particular favourites were Japanese samurai armour, armour made from crocodile skin, the guardians of Nimrud, the Elgin marbles and of course the Rosetta Stone. After the museum, we got back to the bus and headed home. All in all, a highly interesting and great day!
