Year 6 Geography field trip to Sherborne

Year 6 enjoyed a wonderfully productive trip to Sherborne on the Friday before half term...

At the end of a busy week of exams, it was a great opportunity for the pupils to break out of the classroom and see Geography at work in real life! On a beautifully sunny day, we travelled into Sherborne; on route the pupils made a note of all the shops and services in the intervening villages.

Once in Sherborne, they undertook a number of tasks such as a land use survey, pedestrian counts and a car park analysis. The shoppers and visitors seemed very bemused to see so many children avidly recording the settlements characteristics on their clip boards! We collected some fabulous data so hopefully the children’s fieldwork projects will reflect this.

A great afternoon with which to finish the half term!
