Y5 embark on an artistic adventure to Hauser and Wirth
On Friday, Year 5 embarked on their artistic adventure to Hauser and Wirth. Throughout the morning, the children carried out a number of workshops and activities, led by Hauser and Wirth’s knowledgeable and inspiring team members, in order to develop their understanding of different artistic genres and the variety of materials used to create sculptures.
Whilst studying John Chamberlain’s Gondola’s (inexpensive materials to create lavishly colored and layered sculptures) and Richard Tuttle’s unique and alternatively crafted assembles, the children practiced incorporating space in an art work, by drawing the sculptures in relation to the objects and space around them. They were then immersed into Pipilotti Rist’s sumptuous and relaxing world as they settled down on sheepskin rugs to watch a dreamlike video installation relating to the connection and interaction with the world around us.
Here are some comments from the children...
- “Different to any other art gallery I have been to.” Charlie G
- “Amazing.” James B
- “Fantastic. I cannot wait to go back there.” Eloise C
- “My first ever visit to an art exhibition. It was so cool and so clever.” Helena G.
