The Summer Concert is a Huge Success
This year we decided to try something different. We took the Spring Concerts out of the incredibly busy Easter Term and went for a big Summer concert where we could say goodbye to all the Year 8s who have led the ensembles at Hazlegrove throughout this, their final year.
It was a great success: the quality of the playing and experience of the performers shone through to present an outstanding level of musicianship. The standard and complexity of repertoire was well beyond its years. Fourteen ensembles and nineteen performances, within one concert, the night before half term at the end of the academic year - what a triumph by our pupils!
With teachers from across the school leading groups of pupils as well as many groups being able to perform completely independently of their music teachers, the evening proved yet again that music unites us all and that we strive for excellence at Hazlegrove.
I am extremely proud of the young musicians tonight and all that they have accomplished. I shall miss them and know that the department will go from strength to strength.
Well done everyone tonight and in the words of Plato; "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything".
