Our Music Scholars dazzled in their special Soirée

We had our incredibly special scholars' soirée on a wintery Friday evening in our fabulous Fitzjames Hub.

We are so lucky to have another extremely talented cohort of scholars most of whom have already been awarded their music scholarships. This year, we have eight music scholars all of whom are above grade 5 on three instruments. Therefore, the concert was over an hour of music and enjoyed by a completely packed audience who listened to high level playing whilst enjoying a glass of fizz and a canapé or two.

The range of instruments was also impressive as it included pupils who are accomplished on trombone, saxophone, violin, piano, voice, Baroque recorder and flute. The buzz that evening was really special and the children clearly enjoyed wearing their carefully chosen concert clothes. They performed proudly  to their families and friends having won their awards. Mr. Marquiss accompanied them outstandingly and was incredibly sensitive to each child's individual musicality.

It was also a very moving event as soon these Year 8s will be on their way to their respective senior schools and they will be missed for their enriching contribution to the musical life at Hazlegrove.
