The Year 4 Poetry Slam was held at Dillington House and was a fantastic morning out.

The Year 4 Poetry Slam was held at Dillington House and was a fantastic morning out. Four children went along to the Slam, having worked very hard to learn a poem off by heart – The Dentist and the Crocodile by Roald Dahl – to perform to the many others schools there.

Dillington House was a fantastic location, and we kick-started the day listening to a talk by poet and author Rachel Rooney. We learnt a lot about the process of writing poetry and even some pig-latin. Then it was on to the Bubble Zone, and to read the poems on the Poetry Wall, which we had contributed to. Our final task was to watch the other schools perform their poems and to show them ours, which was a roaring success!

A thoroughly enjoyable, educational day out with four exceptionally behaved, happy and polite Hazlegrove children.
