Year 6 construction challenge - in French...
Last Wednesday evening, the majority of Year 6 took part in Madame Webb’s challenge to build some famous French buildings with Artstraws.
Eight groups worked very hard for an hour and a half to build their favourite famous French monument. These landmarks included the Pyramid of the Louvre, the square house in Nîmes (in the South of France), the Rugby Stadium, the bridge of Millau, the Eiffel Tower and the Cathedral of Chartres. With glue gun, blue tack and sticky tape, they happily made wonderful constructions out of straws.
While they were building their monuments, there was hot chocolate and a pain au chocolat for everyone who asked in perfect French, which they did!
After many thoughts and the advice of Miss New, Miss Fenwick and Mr Illingworth, we decided to give prizes for the following groups:
3rd Place - Team “Pain au chocolat” (Gabriella W, Amelia H-H, Faye C and Naomi D) with “La Maison Carrée” à Nîmes
2nd Place - Team “ABC” (Amelia B, Lottie R and Cecily S and Laila S) with “la Cathédrale de Chartres”
The winners - “Falkons on fire” (Eloise C, Rose A, Laila S Alice de P) with “Le louvre”
