Speech and Drama Evening
56 children presented their speech and drama examination pieces to a packed theatre. From Shakespeare's Juliet, to Roald Dahl's Mr and Mrs Twit, we were treated to polished and confident performances.
It was a wonderful showcase for Miss de la Poer's Speech and Drama lessons (click here to find out more), full of variety, comedy, and drama. A report from Miss de la Poer features below...
"Our Speech & Drama Showcase followed the recent LAMDA exams and was held in the theatre on Tuesday 3 February. Parents and friends joined us for a very busy evening of 26 performances. All the children did so well and remained in character throughout and they should be proud of their performances.
Florence McK opened the evening with a strong performance as Juliet from Romeo and Juliet, as she waited for the return of her nurse. Tommy N, Alexander N, Finn S and Benjamin D entertained us with a scene from Gents, battling for the heart of a widow. Another funny performance was Christopher L and Oliver L-S in Robots-R-Us Dot com about a fake robot. Lily I and Eleanor P-C accepted their mouse child Bruno reluctantly from the Grandma played by Molly L in a very humorous scene from ‘The Witches’ by Roald Dahl. The scene also featured Georgina W.
Other well-known stories included Anne of Green Gables, performed dramatically by both Ana Sofia B and Serena C and 101 Dalmatians played by Chloe H and Cecily S. Apart from the solo and duo acting scenes, there were also two devised performances, including a story based upon ‘The Diary’ created by Thomas S and Ben W and ‘The Necklace’ by Evie H and Emma S. The evening ended with a funny scene from Sebastian K and Hector McA as they discussed a survey on women.
I would like to thank all those parents and staff who helped in this success of this evening."
