Year 7 were fabulous in their adaptation of Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'...

On a distant island lives a man…Robbed of his position, power and wealth, his enemies set him adrift and left him to die. But this is no ordinary man, and he was washed up on no ordinary island. Prospero is a magician, and with help from Ariel, his faithful sprite, is able to control the very elements and bend nature to his will. When a sail appears on the horizon, he reaches out across the ocean to the ship that carries the men who wronged him. Creating a vast magical storm he wrecks the ship and the waves carry his enemies up onto the shore. When they wake they find themselves lost on a fantastical island where nothing is as it seems. Justice will be done.

Why choose 'The Tempest'? Revenge, plots to kill, magic arts, love and blessings of marriage as with most of Shakespeare’s plays, it has it all. The pupils have embraced the challenge this term with such determination and professionalism. They have learnt a demanding piece of theatre and all proved themselves to be proficient actors in their own right.

They should be incredibly proud of their achievements in drama this term and I know that they will never forget the time they performed so beautifully in their first (and hopefully for some, not their last) Shakespearean play.
