A stunning performance of Fauré’s Requiem
On Thursday 22 February the St Mary’s Chapel Choir was joined by singers from Hazlegrove for a performance of Fauré’s Requiem.
Children from Hazlegrove joined choirs from: Fairleigh School, Hanford School, St Mary's Shaftsbury, Knighton House School, Port Regis and Sandroyd School to sing Fauré Requiem at The Minster, Wimborne. Plans for this wonderful concert began nearly a year ago.
Director of Music at St Mary’s Shaftesbury, Derek Harris, rehearsed the children for just one hour before the concert was due to start. Our year 5 children were at the front of the massed choir singing their hearts out and performed professionally in the beautiful setting of the Wimborne Minster. The Minster was packed with Heads, Governors, family and friends of the young performers. It was a wonderful event. Well done to our fantastic singers for putting on such a stunning performance of Fauré’s Requiem.
