Year 8 discovered what goes into the perfect cup of coffee on a trip to a local coffee business
Year 8 had a great afternoon visiting a local business who specialises in the traditional roasting of coffee beans to make unique Espresso blends.
The children learnt all about how coffee is produced, from the picking right through to roasting, packing and delivery to the consumer. The coffee industry is an excellent case study to use in the Transport and Industry unit of the Common Entrance Geography syllabus, where pupils need to examine why raw materials are produced in certain parts of the world and then processed in other countries.
A very useful trip; huge thanks to Mr and Mrs Dick-Read of Read's Coffee Roasters
Mr Farquhar.
