Year 4 spent a morning in groups ‘shadowing’ the Kate Greenaway Medal judges
Every year a selection of children’s books is shortlisted for their outstanding illustrations.
A team of librarians judge the books and award the Kate Greenaway Medal to the winner. Year 4 spent a morning in groups ‘shadowing’ the judges: they enjoyed discussing the illustrations, looking at the way they were used to tell the story, the techniques and colours used, and the impact of the pictures.
The children loved the books and made some excellent observations, and I hope they will now see ‘picture books’ in a new light!
