A resounding success for A Midsummer Night's Dream
We were treated to the most amazing celebration of music, art and literature this week. The Sòn Project, conducted by Robin Browning, visited Hazlegrove with James Mayhew, author and children’s book illustrator. They combined Shakespeare, Mendelssohn and beautiful illustrations as the music was playing.
The Lower and Middle School were captivated while the professional orchestra played and James drew to Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream.
A wonderful treat for all the children at the end of the academic year!
Here are some quotes from the children:
"The music was magic and it was amazing to see James Mayhew paint in time to the music" - Kitty S and Lucy S
"I liked it because there were stories and paintings and music" - Corrin McF
"I loved it because it told one of my favourite stories with music" - Lydia H
"This should be a movie" - Toby C
"I really enjoyed the performance, because you could listen to the music and watch the painting at the same time" - Emma G-J
"It was magical watching the paintings come to life whilst listening to the orchestra" - Mrs Warren
