Fantastic teamwork at the Exmoor Challenge
Three teams from Hazlegrove completed a gruelling 16-mile walk across the varied terrain of Exmoor, as part of this year’s Exmoor Challenge.
Twelve competitors left school on Friday afternoon to camp overnight on the moor, where we enjoyed some games and lovely food. On Saturday morning teams embarked on the Challenge and had to arrive at eight checkpoints on time, completing a quiz en-route. Walking such a distance in five and a half hours is no mean feat, and we were thrilled to see all teams cross the line and complete the course.
When the results came in, our mixed team came in 12th in a field of 51 (Ben W, Felix S, Teal S and James B)
The boys' team came 5th in a field of 22 (Barney S, Fred F, George P and Will C)
And our girls' team came in 2nd in a field of 23 (Lily I, Lily C, Molly W and Ottilie S) – just one point away from coming joint first!
All of the teams demonstrated fantastic teamwork and were in excellent spirits throughout, even when the going got tough. Well done to all involved and we look forward to next year’s challenge! Thanks also to Mr Shaw, Mrs Spilsbury and Mrs Birch for their invaluable help and support.
