A great morning of maths fun for the Lower School
On Monday morning all of the Year 3 and 4 children came in to school in the their tracksuits; all geared-up and ready to go for the special Lower School Maths Activity Morning. It was a morning of fun and frantic action as the children raced around the school competing at five very different maths stations.
Each station was designed to explore what they have been learning in class and then challenge them to work as a team as they solve a wide range of real-world maths problems. In the swimming pool they battled together in Wacky Water Challenge and on the Bastion they measured exactly how far they could toss a weighty welly. In Mrs Sharp’s classroom they worked through a series tricky maths brainteasers in order to complete a special 'crossnumber' puzzle. In Mrs Thomas’ classroom they all pitted their wits against a series of fiendish estimation challenges and finally they did not allow the inclement weather discourage them as they went in search of hidden maths clues on the Treasure Hunt.
In the end it was teams Caucy and Babbage who came joint first with an impressive score of 47.5 out of 50. Well Done Mega Mathematicians!
All-in-all a very busy and fun morning and I was thrilled to see just how focussed and determined they all were.
