A morning of Maths fun for Years 5 and 6
On monday morning, as the sun valiantly tried to chase away the thin cloud cover, the Year 5s and 6s embarked on an exciting morning of mathematical problem solving. It was the Middle School Maths Morning and once they had been divided into ten groups (all named after famous mathematicians) they were challenged with a series of fun maths activities to test their wits, their team work and their mathematical prowess.
They were tortured by capacity conundrums in the swimming pool, bashed their heads together in the Head-to-Head Maths quiz, tried their luck at the Probability Fair, and searched high and low for clues for the Maths Treasure Hunt not to mention the Hula Hoop and Bean Bag showdown on the steps of the cricket pavilion.
Once again it turned out to be a highly contested and nail biting competition, with the only two points separating the top four teams. However, it was Team Faraday who triumphed in the end with a dazzling score of 46 out of 50.
It was as enormously enjoyable morning and I was so pleased to see how hard all of the children were working at each of the stations.
