European Day of Langauges
The Prep School celebrated the European Day of Languages again this year on Friday 2 October. Most of the children enjoyed dressing up as a European Country and we were extremely lucky with the beautiful weather. At morning break, there was a catwalk in front of Fitzjames and the children were walking in threes to show off their costumes.
At lunch time, the children had to find some teachers who had volunteered to represent a country with an object or a charade. Some Departments joined in the spirit of the day with the French Department; for example, the Games Department played the boules games called “La pétanque” in French with some of their classes and the children liked practising a typical French game. Also, the Art Department studied the artist Henri Matisse and tried to copy his style with bright colours with all the Year 8s.
It was a busy and cultural day, perfect to start off an Exeat weekend.
