Paul Dowswell writing workshop and talk
Year 6 took part in writing workshops with historic novelist, Paul Dowswell.
They imagined they were on the eve of The Battle of the Somme. Paul gave enough information to set the scene for the children to write a diary entry or a short story and in the half an hour workshop, the results were very good. Paul was delighted with the descriptions and ideas that Year 6 came up with.
Later on during the morning, Year 7 listened to a very interesting talk about the rise of Germany towards the outbreak of the Second World War. Year 7 learnt a lot about how the German people were subjected to the Big Brother regime and how Germany glorified the Communist regime.
Thank you Paul for taking the time to come to Hazlegrove.
Here are some comments from the children:
- ‘His talk about Big Brother was inspiring’ Lottie H
- ‘An inspiring story writer who is brilliant at historical books’ Tom P
