Clay figures made in DT were out of this world aboard a NASA rocket!
Polymer clay figures made in DT flew at a velocity of 6,659kph and 205km above the earth aboard the NASA Water Recover Rocket!
As DT is a major part of STEM, we carried out an exciting challenge where the children had the opportunity to combine creativity and experimentation when they created micro-figures to send up into space on the NASA SµGRE-1 Rocket.
The children used their learning from Science to discuss and decide on the best materials to use for their figures based on the properties and characteristics of each. The figures were only allowed to weigh 4g so we used Maths to work out the scale, weight and amount of polymer clay we could use to create figures.
All figures returned home intact and unchanged.
What an exciting adventure the micro-figures have had.
