On Friday after school, we headed up to London and were very excited to reach the Olympic Park. After a few quick photos with some iconic landmarks we headed off to the hotel and quickly settled down to sleep.
It was a very early start for the boys and the relay teams were soon competing in the pool. We had qualified in 16th and 17th place and were delighted when both relay teams improved their times so much. The U13 boys finished in 9th place (improving by 7 places) and the U12 boys in 11th (improving by 6 places). It was then the turn of our individual swimmers – with all three boys swimming well in the heats and making the finals – we were delighted by this incredible achievement. In the finals Josh C finished 6th, Josh S 7th and Angus E 8th.
After lunch it was then the turn of the girls – the freestyle relay team finished in 10th place (again improving by 6 places) and Carina H too made the final after a good swim in her heat. She finished in 10th place overall. After a very long day by the pool we headed back to Hazlegrove, reaching school at 10.30pm - tired but very happy!
