Bath and West Show Jumping

Our school riders were very busy over half term and took part in the school’s show jumping classes at the Royal Bath and West Show. On Thursday a group of Hazlegrove children competed in front of big crowds in the show jumping ring at this super local county show.

It was so lovely to see so many current and past pupils coming along to the ring to support the Hazlegrove teams.

Skye F, Anna I, Emily W, Josh C, George W and Flora S all rode beautifully in two big classes. Schools from across the West Country were represented and we were riding against some much older children. In some classes there were 15 teams and 65 individuals competing.

In Class 1 – Our Hazlegrove teams finished 3rd and 6th

In Class 2 – Our Hazlegrove team finished 5th and Josh C was 6th individually

National Schools Equestrian Association National Eventers Finals at Hickstead

During half term our school riding teams headed to Sussex to compete at the world famous Hickstead Showground.

Jake F, Skye F, Anna I, Emily W and Josh C.

We arrived on Saturday and were straight into action – we jumped in the Derby Challenge. This was a qualifying class for the finals later in the day. Hazlegrove had two teams entered and all of the riders jumped really well in the big arena – jumping water, devils dykes, steps and banks as well as the usual mixture of show jumps and cross country fences.

After a long and very hot afternoon the Hazlegrove teams finished 1st and 2nd with Josh C winning the individual title and all qualifying for the National Finals.

National Derby Challenge Finals

Our Hazlegrove teams finished 2nd and 5th overall and Josh C won the national individual title.

Day two and we were up early competing in the National Eventers finals, again we had two Hazlegrove teams qualified for this event. There were 53 schools competing and after a very exciting day, one Hazlegrove team finished in 8th place overall – a very creditable and commendable achievement.
