Year 6 Willow Sculpture Workshops
On two Fridays in January, all of Year 6 took part in two willow sculpture workshops.
They worked with local artist Charlotte Morton to create two beautiful deer made of a metal framework for the skeleton and willow to fill the deer out and add details. Every child thoroughly enjoyed this experience and learnt many new skills linked to other subjects: from mathematical measuring and proportion to scientific observation of the skeletons of animals.
Our two deer now stand proudly together in the school grounds, near our new Fitzjames building. Many thanks to Charlotte for a fantastic two days as well as all the other children who helped to complete the deer by adding much needed willow.
