Amelia's charity concert for Nepal raises over £400
It’s not often that you get a whole year group performing together, but on Tuesday, Year 6 all performed in a charity musical evening organised by Amelia W in aid of DEC to fund relief for the Nepalese.
A packed program included many solos, ensembles and groups. There were also cameo appearances from Year 8 performers, and Miss Rudd was prevailed upon to dust off her xylophone for a very entertaining number.
All the children gave outstanding performances and we heard everything from the theme from Poldark to favourites from Sound of Music; pieces by Grieg, Mozart and Handel to songs from Adele and Jessie J. But for me, memorable numbers included: Oliver L-S’s Goldfinger, sung with enough gusto to have Dame Bassey worried; a very moving solo dance performance from Annie L; and Alice S and Georgia W performing their own composition, Fly Away. The hour long evening passed all too quickly, and culminated in a rousing number sung by the Year 6 choir: the Hazlegrove Song.
The concert raised £415.40.
