Half term sports roundup...
Half term sports roundup... we have had a busy and fun-filled sporty time.
Riding
The school riders had a super day at the Leweston NSEA Show Jumping Competition.
They returned laden with rosettes and won a number of classes. A special well done to those competing for Hazlegrove for the first time. Emily W had a great day at the NSEA National ODE Finals in Oxfordshire, finishing a very creditable 2nd and 3rd in her respective sections. Full report here.
Laser Run
Congratulations to Rafferty S who competed very well in Dublin, in the recent UIPM Laser Run World Championships. It was a great experience to be part of such an exciting competition. It was also wonderful to see a number of Old Hazlegrovians competing there too.
Hockey
Well done to the U11 girls who finished as the plate silver medal winners at the recent U11 Regional IAPS Tournament.
It has been such a delight to see the Lower School all starting out on their hockey journey – both the U8’s and U9’s have had a busy couple of weeks.
Good luck to both the U12 and U13 teams who have their respective IAPS Tournaments after half term.
Rugby
It now feels like the rugby term is in full swing, and all of the boys from Year 3 to Year 8 have enjoyed a number of school fixtures. A special mention must go to our super U10 team who won the recent King's Bruton Festival – not only winning all of their matches, but also, not conceding a try all afternoon – brilliant stuff!
Schools Biathlon
Forty seven Hazlegrove children have competed in this exciting event this term. George W did incredibly well in the event at Bath University – finishing 3rd in the Under 10 boys event, and we returned home from the Leweston competition with armfuls of medals and success across all age groups.
The following teams won their age groups; U9 Girls, U11 Boys, U12 Boys and U14 Boys. Congratulations to the following who gained podium (top three) individual placings: Tilda D, Bibi A, Jack L, Arthur F, Zinzan S, Charlie G, Hal S and Josh C.
Squash
The squash teams have had exciting matches against a number of local schools. It is a great to see the courts being used so well at breaks and lunchtimes and the coaching sessions being so popular.
Golf
Unfortunately, the Hazlegrove Open had to be postponed earlier in the term due to the wet weather.
The new date is Saturday 3 November at 1.30pm.
