IAPS – National Judo Finals
Well done to the boys that competed at the National IAPS Judo Finals in High Wycombe last weekend. All of them competed brilliantly and have gained valuable tournament experience. A special well done to William M for coming 2nd in his category and to Dino B for winning his category – a fantastic achievement to win the IAPS National Title. Well done.
Athletics
Monkton Athletics Festival
Our Year 4, 5 and 6 athletes went to Bath to compete in the annual Six Schools Athletics Festival. After a very exciting afternoon of athletics against Clifton College, Monkton, King Edwards, Beaudesert and The Downs, we awaited the results. We heard that both our Year 6 boys and Year 6 girls relay teams had broken the meeting records, Emily W had broken the Long Jump record and that Hazlegrove had managed to retain the overall school trophy. A very good result and all credit should go to the athletes who all performed with both courage and determination throughout the sunny afternoon.
Port Regis Athletics Festival
Well done to all 31 athletes that competed at the Port Regis Athletics Festival. This was a track event and included races for Year 3 / 4, 5 / 6 and 7 / 8. There were seven schools present – Port Regis, Forres Sandle Manor, Sherborne, Clayesmore, Dumpton and Chafyn Grove and we all enjoyed a very competitive and exciting afternoon of racing. Hazlegrove were very proud to lift the overall trophy, winning in fine style – winning all but one of the age group categories.
King’s Taunton Athletics Festival
A lovely sunny Sunday afternoon was spent at Kings College Taunton. Lots of medals were won by all of our athletes. 8 Bronze, 15 Silver, 18 Gold and the Year 6 Boys’ Relay Cup. Some great performances all round.
South West Schools Relays at Leweston
62 Hazlegrove athletes all competed at Leweston for the Biathle, Triathle and Laser Run relays. We all had an amazing day in the sunshine – the children from Year 2 to 8 all performed brilliantly. It was fabulous to have so many competing for the first time in this event and they certainly gave it their all.
Biathle – this is a continuous run – swim - run event
Triathle – a continuous shoot – swim – run event
Laser Run – a continuous shoot – run event
All of our competitors were awarded medals and many teams finished first in their respective categories.
