An exeat sports roundup

Cricket
The cricket term has started well, with all of the boys enjoying their Games lessons and matches. A number of our boys and girls have gained District selection; it is great to see them taking their cricket to the next level.

A special mention should go to George B for his half century (65 not out v Taunton) and Marcus W who got a hat-trick – 3 wicket (3 for 5) against Kings Hall.

During the matches against Taunton we all got very wet – look at the photos of our fantastic ground staff in action – trying to protect the pitches!

Rounders
All of the girls from Year 5 to Year 8 have already represented the school in either Rounders or Cricket fixtures. There is no better sight than the school field buzzing with activity on an afternoon in the sun!

Good luck to the U11 girls who play Princes Mead School in the first round of the IAPS National Competition.

Athletics

Well done to all of the athletes who have been busy competing in various events around the county. Last weekend, we had a number of children competing in the Somerset Combined Events Championships and all produced superb performances.

Well done to the following: Philip M, Archie H, Alfie S, Charlie G, Oliver L, Josh M, Josh S, Ottilie S and to Josh C who finished 2nd overall.

Last Friday five Hazlegrove riders travelled to Buckingham to the National Schools Show Jumping Finals – something that we had qualified for by winning the Somerset County Finals last term. Read the full report here.

We were delighted that Cameron came to visit and spoke to the whole school in assembly with his two Commonwealth Games silver medals. He was a real inspiration and certainly a great role model for the children to follow. Read the full report here.

Football success
Well done to Arthur N who has recently been selected to be the goal keeper for the ISFA (Independent Schools Football Association) International Team to represent England. Huge congratulations from all of us at Hazlegrove.
