Sports news round up at half term
A round-up of the recent sports news as we break up for half term...
Cricket
Despite some miserable match day weather recently – it is lovely to see so many children, both boys and girls, enjoying this great game. The fields are alive with bats and balls and we have enjoyed many memorable moments this term. Some highlights from matches include:
Half Centuries for the following: George B (64 v Taunton), Daniel M (77 v Queens), Kit W (50 v Kings Hall), Sam H (50 v Kings Hall).
Rounders
The girls have been enjoying their rounders matches this term. With the Year 5 and 6 Inter house completion poised nicely going into the final round of play.
Two girls have scored the magic ‘5 or more’ rounders in a school fixture: Pandora C ( 6 ½ v Kings Hall and 8 ½ v Port Regis), Rosie T (6 ½ v Port Regis)
Tennis
We are thrilled to see the courts being so well used at break and lunchtimes and with ‘Wimbledon Fever’ about to hit we look forward to hearing the sound of tennis balls echoing around the bastion walls.
Athletics
We have had a busy few weeks, with lots of children representing the school. We were delighted to return home from both the Monkton (Year 4,5,6) Festival and the Port Regis (Year 4,6,7 and 8) Festival with the overall trophies.
Biathle
It was very encouraging to see 36 Hazlegrove children representing the school so well in the recent South West Relays and enjoying this exhilarating sport. Gold medals were won by six of our school teams and we look forward to the National Schools Championships on 19th June.
