U11 boys 2nd at the IAPS Hockey National Championships

Our U11 boys left Hazlegrove at 6.45am on Monday morning and headed to Wellington College, Berkshire for the National IAPS Hockey Finals.

The tournament started with group matches and after 4 games we won our group and progressed through to the quarter-finals of the main draw.  Our group results were:

• V Felsted Drew 2-2
• V St John’s College Won 1-0
• V Loretto Won 5-0
• V Walhampton Won 4- 0

So it was on to the quarter-finals against Magdalen College School which resulted in a 2-0 win for Hazlegrove.  The semi-finals was a much closer match against Beeston Hall and after drawing at the final whistle we went to penalty shuffles which we won 6-5.

The final, against local rivals Chafyn Grove, was a very exciting and tense match.  Unfortunately we lost 1-0 but we were thrilled to receive our Runners Up medals – to finish 2nd in the National U11s' competition is a tremendous achievement – very well done boys!
