Hazlegrove presents a cheque to Sherborne Churches Together
Hazlegrove welcomed John and Sue Bradshaw from Sherborne Churches Together to the school on Monday to present them with a cheque for £1,384.
This money was raised from the Christmas Carol Service at Wells Cathedral and went towards organising a lovely Christmas meal for older people in Sherborne to attend during the often lonely Christmas season.
The Lower School children came together and made table gifts in the run up to Christmas. They lovingly sewed lavender bags and handmade hot chocolate reindeers to support this amazing event. These gifts were used to help decorate the place settings for 100 elderly people who have been invited to share in the ‘Community Christmas’ meal with ‘Sherborne Churches Together’ on Christmas Day.
Community Christmas is a charity that ‘believes that no older person in the UK should be alone on Christmas Day unless they want to be.’
The charity encourages communities to provide companionship to older people on Christmas Day by running a community Christmas Lunch event.
