Memories of the cedar tree
It was with enormous sadness that the Headmaster reported in the half term edition of the Hazlegrove Update that the cedar tree which has been a defining feature of the Hazlegrove landscape for so many years was falling down.
The roots on the house side of the school were lifting out of the ground and the far side of the trunk, much of which was rotten, was collapsing under the weight of the tree. The tree was taken down during half term revealing the true extent to which the rot had taken hold - it was remarkable that the tree had still been standing.
Over half term, the Hazlegrove community was invited to enter a competition, putting their memories of the tree to paper – here are some of the winning entries:
