Year 8 raise £1200 for Yeovil Community Arts Assoc.
The children of Year 8 raised a whopping £1280.37 during their Hooray for Hollywood show nights. Two posters autographed by the cast were auctioned by very experienced auctioneer, Theo G, raising over £800, and over £400 was made in profits for merchandise sold by the children during the interval on both evenings. A choice of mugs, posters, coasters, mouse mats and phone cases were on offer and proved very popular with theatre goers. The children of Year 8 were absolutely delighted to have raised so much money and to hear that their contribution will send over three talented children on their way to theatrical and Arts schools.
A word from Lizzie Pike of the YCAA who came to Hazlegrove receive the cheque from some of those children involved:
‘Thank you for such a warm welcome, and the YCAA would like to thank the children for all their efforts in raising such a worthwhile amount for the YCAA to use in sponsorship. It was very obvious that they really enjoyed "Hooray for Hollywood!" and from the photographs Mrs Warren showed me from the show, I could see all the talent that made the event so enjoyable for children, teachers and parents alike. Congratulations to everyone for such a successful show.
We are very grateful to the children for choosing to raise money for the YCAA, and we promise to use it to benefit talented young people on their journey to fulfilling their dreams in the world of the arts.
It was wonderful meeting such happy children.’
