Over 1500 runners at St. Margaret's Hospice Colour Run

Hazlegrove was delighted to play host to the St Margaret’s Hospice Colour Run last Sunday, 14 June. The weather was perfect for the occasion – not too hot and not too windy – and people arrived by the carload to take part or to support family and friends. Excitement mounted as the crowd built up more with white t-shirts ready to get covered in paint and plenty of tutus adding a splash of colour before the run even began.

After an official warm-up of a mass Zumba session, more than 1500 runners set off to great cheers around the Hazlegrove playing fields before heading out into the surrounding parkland. “Paint stations” were located at various points around the course where powder paints were liberally cast at the passing runners. The effect was amazing and those taking part (younger and older alike) were clearly relishing every moment whether they were running, jogging or walking.

The participants all gathered in the finishing area before a massive “colour bomb” session which ensured that everyone who had completed the course was thoroughly covered in colour.

Many of the runners were taking part to pay tribute to lost loved ones and to say a big thank you to St. Margaret’s Hospice for all they do in helping to make the final days more bearable.  We are delighted that the run was such a success and that over £40,000 was pledged in donations on the day going to help the invaluable work of the hospice.
