A special assembly to celebrate The Queen's reign
A special assembly was held to recognise and celebrate the achievement of Her Majesty The Queen in becoming our country’s longest reigning monarch, and surpassing Queen Victoria in doing so.
After entering the theatre to rousing numbers from The Last Night of the Proms, the assembly began with the Lower School explaining the Queen’s role as the leader of the Commonwealth. Year Six then shared a number of interesting facts about Her Majesty, such as pointing out that she does not require a licence to drive, and that in spite of having a Facebook account, she is not allowed to be poked! Finally, a group of Year Eight pupils took us through some of the significant historical events she has seen in her many decades on the throne, underlining the incredible length of her reign. A rousing rendition of God Save the Queen completed proceedings.
