Travelling to Turkey in 1854 was a perilous and dangerous journey.

The children have plotted on a map the journey Florence Nightingale and her nurses travelled to reach the military hospital in Scutari.  The children wrote very detailed descriptions of this journey as they put themselves in the nurse’s shoes. They also wrote a letter home to Florence’s parents describing the awful conditions and the back-breaking work the nurses had to do to make the hospital clean. To get their creative juices flowing, all the children were given the chance to dress up in costume. They could choose to be either a nurse from 1854 or a British soldier!

On Wednesday, we were delighted to be able to watch the Year 6 play – Matilda - a firm favourite in Year 2! It was a chance for our budding Year 2 thespians to see what they could achieve in the future.
