Rugby Watching, Cake Making and Kayaking For Our Busy Boarders
A wet and blustery outlook did not stem the enthusiasm of the boarders this weekend.
A group of children headed off to the Biathlon at Millfield, while the rest took advantage of a range of fluid options available to them on and off site. Smells of chocolately deliciousness wafted across the site for most of the morning as Miss Ranking shared her heavenly chocolate chip cupcake recipe with one group of children. Cries of despair from some pupils punctuated the air as they followed Scotland’s demise on the rugby pitch, whilst others took part in a highly strategic and dramatic nerf gun war, marshalled by Mr Birch in the sports hall. The art room was a hive of activity for most of the day with pom pom making, quilling, cartooning and sketching with Miss Collings. Many of the children took the opportunity to partake in one of several sessions of kayaking led by Mr Jenkins and others opted to spend some time in the ICT room or common room which was busy with action on the pool table and numerous strategic rubix races.
As the sun came out in the afternoon, so did the bikes, scooters, rugby balls, conkers and cricket bats. Also, a minibus of children ventured into Yeovil to the Recreation Ground; it wasn’t quite the crazy golf they were hoping for, but nevertheless, the play space there was a welcome change of scenery. As the afternoon drew to a close, the children flopped down to watch a film before enjoying a scrumptious evening meal.
A good day all round for all, but definitely an early bedtime as everyone recharges ready to dive into the last week of this half term.
