Music, like rain, drop by drop, seeps into the heart and enlivens it
8S put on a concert and invited members of their family and some elderly ladies and gentlemen from our local community, through Candlelight Care, to come and watch the performance. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed canapés and a good chat with each other.
The scene was set and 8S were ready. The inexperienced ones had only been learning their instruments for three weeks, taught by their fellow classmates who had had previous experience. The concert started off with a bang, with Ella and Helvetica’s piano duet of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Next, Laila’s fantastic flute piece, followed by Ottilie’s re-found piano skills. Joccy and Bede’s marimba pieces were most excellent with much help from their teacher, Oscar. Oscar’s beautiful performance of ‘Toccata in D minor’ by Johann Sebastian Bach had the crowd enchanted. The fabulous ukulele quartet performed a crossover of modern and traditional in their piece ‘Wake me Up’. Cecily and Ottilie’s jolly duet of ‘Dance of the Shepherds Girls’ was excellent as was Amelia H-H's superb recital on piano. The rain could not stop the ambitious performers and crowd, and after a brief interval the concert quickly proceeded into the shelter of the front hall. The concert finished with an astounding rendition of ‘Under the Sea’ performed by the whole of 8S, joined by Mr Farquhar and lead by Amelia B’s hilarious Jamaica accent!
The concert was a huge success and everyone enjoyed it immensely.
