Year 6 turn to detective work on their Forensic Science Day at @Bristol Science Centre
Chromatography, dusting fingerprints, analysing DNA and making finger moulds were just a few of the exciting activities that Year 6 had the chance to turn their hands to for the Forensic Science Day at the @Bristol Science Centre.
The children had a fabulous day out on Tuesday at the @ Bristol Science Centre, having the chance to get involved in some real hands on learning through two forensic workshops, which were designed to test the children’s problem solving skills alongside learning through discovery. Some super teamwork skills were displayed by the children where they had to use clues to solve a major crime; we really do have some ‘forensic scientists in the making’ here are Hazlegrove!
Alongside this, the children had the opportunity to investigate the wealth of hands-on investigations and learn about so many different aspects of Science. Some particular favourites included running on a giant hamster wheel to create energy, the tour of the insides of a human body, slow motion videos that captured ‘startle’ reactions and testing parachutes.
I was extremely impressed by the enthusiasm and teamwork that the children displayed throughout the day.
