Conker competitons and go-karting to stick-bot animations and emoji cushion making for the boarders.

Autumn leaves photographed, conker championships, Frisbee golf and a spot of revision (for the year 8s), was the order of play in the morning after a delicious full-English breakfast. These activities merely whet the appetites…go-karting and the very popular, emoji cushion-making followed.

The children produced beautiful autumn photographs for the photography competition – Flo, Bella and Samantha took the top prizes, and the emoji cushions will all find a place on beds tonight!

After a scrumptious lunch (roast pork and crackling), the children were treated to a few never-been-seen activities. They were: Stick-bot animations, making bowls out of autumn leaves, a dance-off and the terrifying “Run the Gauntlet” – essentially a game of stingers with a tennis ball (for those who feared a whizzing tennis ball in the 80s), in the sports hall. The boys playing the game absolutely loved it – just the right amount of adrenalin and exercise!

After the afternoon activities, the children piled into the theatre for a Picture Quiz. The Year 8 girls were team captains and Lily’s team were victorious. Chapel followed the picture quiz.

Miss Richardson took chapel and treated us all to a moving and inspirational talk of her travels in Spain and her faith. She started her talk, showing the children pebbles that she had carved on the Camino de Santiago Trail and ended the service with the children singing to a popular track from Sister Act – 'I never saw that coming!' It was very touching to see the children enjoying, singing a “hymn” so much.

And that was not all… After supper, the staff gathered their torches whilst the children went hiding in the shadows for a game of Dover Patrol. What a great way to end what was a super day – the children were fantastic company and make days such as this a real pleasure!
